In a virtual press briefing regarding the government's response to adverse weather conditions, Department of Health (DOH) Assistant Secretary Albert Domingo shared the preparations made by the agency following the directives of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

Asec. Domingo emphasized the steps the agency has taken for the rainy season. Based on the direction from President Marcos, ₱31 million worth of emergency medicines and logistics have been allocated to address disasters like the current situation.

“May nakaantabay pa na ₱180 million na emergency medicine and logistics na ‘di pa nadedeploy unless kailanganin (antibiotics, pain reliever, paracetamol, lagundi for cough and colds, orisol for diarrhea, skin ointment for skin diseases), hygiene kits, drinking water and containers, chlorine tablets, breastfeeding kits,” Asec. Domingo added that the DOH is preparing for the additional request in the health sector during this inclement weather.

Despite the continuous rain and flooding, the DOH remains committed to serving the affected individuals. During rounds with DOH Secretary Ted Herbosa and health workers from various affected local government units (LGUs), it was observed that the most common illness among evacuees is coughs and colds, which the DOH attributes to the changing weather conditions.

“Patuloy ang pag-iikot ng ating doctors, nurses, health workers, ng DOH, LGU, sa utos ni President Marcos Jr at Secretary Ted Herbosa para mabantayan ang kalusugan ng ating bayan,” he said as a reminder to all that the agency is already ahead of their needs.

He also urged the public to take extra care of their health and to take precautionary measures if necessary.

“Mag ingat po tayo, pag may abiso sa evacuation, ang tubig ay pakulaan ng 2 minuto, kung tayo ay mabaha, tayo ay magpakonsulta para maiwasan ang leptospirosis.” he reminded.
