Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, delivered good news to healthcare workers who have yet to receive their Health Emergency Allowance (HEA), RH 28 Raymund Dadpaas reported on Friday, August 22.
The Senate Committee on Health hearing was presided over by Senator Go on Wednesday, August 20, tackling the said issue. This was after officials from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed that the DBM has already released P6.77 billion in funding for this purpose.
The DBM will transfer the funds to the DOH within August, and it may be downloaded to regional offices at any time.
According to Senator Go, this is the result of their continued follow-ups with the DBM and DOH to ensure funding for the unpaid HEA of the remaining health workers.
Last year, the DBM released P27 billion for the HEA of health care workers, but many were still left unpaid.
It may be recalled that Senator Go had repeatedly urged the immediate release of the remaining HEA for health care workers, emphasizing that they rightfully earned it during the COVID-19 pandemic.
