Customs arrest claimant of ecstasy tablets worth more than Php 4.8 million

Authorities arrested the claimant of a package containing 2,878 tablets of ecstasy or 'party drugs' worth more than Php 4.8 million on Monday, February 15, at the Manila Central Post Office.

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) identified the suspect as a certain 'Ron Ron Salonga'.

BOC said that the package, declared to contain two women clothes, one kids' clothes, and a pair of shoes, came from a certain 'Mary Lumbao Edward' in the Netherlands.

The package was consigned to a certain resident of Malate, Manila.

Authorities discovered that the shipment hid 12 packs of ecstasy tablets with green and gold colors upon further profiling and examination of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Customs examiner and K-9 sweeping.

The suspect face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, also known as Republic Act 9165; and Republic Act 10863, otherwise known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
