Cavite City was placed in a state of calamity on Tuesday, July 16, due to the massive fire incident that ravaged two coastal villages and impacted more than 900 families.
According to the City Government of Cavite, the declaration was based on Mayor Denver Reyes Chua and the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council’s endorsement and recommendation.
According to reports, the blaze started at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday in Badjao, Alonzo Street, and quickly spread to Barangay 5 and Barangay 7.
Affected residents were immediately evacuated to Dalahican Elementary School.
No casualties have been recorded, according to authorities.
