The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) reported on Tuesday that Region 4-A Calabarzon set the highest record of vote applications for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) this year.
In the latest data, it was stated that 375,453 voter applications came from the region out of a total of 2,497,339 received during the registration period from Dec. 12, 2022, to Jan. 31, this year.
There are 1,264,278 females and 1,233,061 males in total.
With 350,101, the National Capital Region (NCR) had the second-highest number of applications processed.
There are 673,766 new registrants aged 15 to 17 years old, 660,087 aged 18 to 30 years old, and 142,658 aged 31 and up.
Filipinos aged 15 to 17 are eligible to vote in the SK polls; those aged 18 to 30 are eligible to vote in the village and youth polls; and those aged 31 and up are eligible to vote in the barangay and national polls.
The poll body said there were 5,121 SK applicants who applied for transfer from another city or municipality, and 2,841 who applied for transfer within the same city or municipality.
There were 567,811 regular voter applicants who applied for transfer from another city or municipality, and 154,081 who applied for transfer within the same city or municipality.
In addition, 95,006 people applied for reactivation, and 25,382 people applied for reactivation with entry correction.
According to COMELEC, they received 22,613 applications for transfer with reactivation, 7,533 for transfer with reactivation and correction of entries, and 28,811 for transfer with correction of entries.
A total of 102,556 people applied for name changes or corrections of entries, 126 for record inclusion in the book of voters, and 44 for name reinstatement in the list of voters.
There have been 9,831 applications for transfer from being an overseas voter.
Election Registration Boards must approve the applications.
