Presumptive president Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. has invited former Labor chief Bienvenido Laguema and migrant workers advocate Susan 'Toots' Ople to be part of his incoming administration, his camp revealed Tuesday.
In a press briefing, lawyer Vic Rodriguez said Marcos offered Laguesma to be the Secretary of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Ople for the newly-established Department of Migrant Workers.
Rodriguez said Marcos met and talked with the two before going on his private trip to Australia for a “much-needed rest and vacation.”
"Ito ‘yung mga taong respetado sa larangan ng labor and employment na kanyang kinausap at tinanong kung nais maglingkod sa gobyerno, sa ilalim ng pamahalaang Marcos," he said.
He said the personalities asked for some time to consult with people they trust to seek advice.
Among the personalities expected to be part of the next Cabinet is former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. for the Interior Department. Abalos was the manager of Mr. Marcos’ presidential campaign.
Presumptive vice president Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has also welcomed her appointment as the education secretary.
