Former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairperson Benhur Abalos will be the next chief of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Presumptive President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr.'s spokesman Atty. Vic Rodriguez made the announcement on Friday, May 13.
Abalos served as campaign manager for Marcos Jr. in the recently concluded national and local elections.
Earlier, Marcos Jr. announced that presumptive vice-president Sara Duterte-Carpio will be the next Department of Education (DepEd) secretary.
Rodriguez also clarified that the circulating photo of the supposed Cabinet line-up on social media is fake.
"Yung kumakalat sa social media, there's no truth to that apparent list. Walang listahan. The two names we have announced so far is that of VP Sara and just now, [Abalos]," he said.
When asked about the requirements that Marcos Jr. looks for his Cabinet members, Rodriguez said: "Apart from being competent and qualified, young may pagmamahal sa bansa. Yung kinikilala yung watawat ng Republika ng Pilipinas. Yung rumerespeto sa Saligang Batas at hindi kailanman mananawagan ng pagbagsak ng gobyerno."
