Ahead of the expected onslaught of Tropical Cyclone Pepito in the Bicol Region, the Ako Bicol Partylist, with support from House Speaker Martin Romualdez, distributed rubber boats to various municipalities and government agencies.
The partylist also placed heavy equipment on standby in preparation for possible landslides, floods, and other hazards associated with the inclement weather.
"The new rubber boats and heavy equipment are part of our efforts to ensure preparedness in such situations. They are investments in the safety and resilience of our region," Ako Bicol Partylist Rep. Elizaldy Co said on Saturday, November 16, in a statement.
"We thanked Speaker Martin for helping us ensure that local governments and responders in the Bicol region have the tools they need to help save lives and protect communities," Co added.
Co urged the Bicolanos to prioritize their safety, and preemptively evacuate.
"To our fellow Bicolanos, always choose safety. If you know your area is at risk, don’t wait—evacuate immediately," the lawmaker stressed.
