The House Quad Committee canceled its scheduled hearing this week, to give way for the government’s ongoing relief efforts for the victims of Super Typhoon Pepito.
According to Quad Comm Chairman and Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers, their Committee decided to cancel the hearing on Thursday, November 21, so that the House members can focus on providing aid to their respective districts.
Several areas were devastated by the recent typhoons that struck the country, including the recent Super Typhoon. Due to this, Barbers said that it is important that lawmakers prioritize their districts first.
Meanwhile, Barbers mentioned that several affidavits submitted to the Quad Committee are currently being verified. According to Barbers, several people expressed their willingness to testify before the Committee. However, they are still in the process of validating the documents.
Barbers also stressed the importance of having documentary evidence for the investigation.
Former President Rodrigo Duterte attended the Committee’s previous hearing and was questioned about the war on drugs and killings that happened during his term. Duterte reiterated his statement and said that he is taking full responsibility for what happened during his campaign against illegal drugs.
No specific dates were mentioned for the next Quad Comm hearing.
