PBA player John Amores and his brother left jail on Friday, September 27, after posting bail.

The two face a charge of attempted homicide after Amores fired a gun at a person on Wednesday, September 25, in Lumban, Laguna.

Based on documents from the Municipal Circuit Trial Court in Lumban, Amores and his brother posted bail worth Php 24,000 and Php 10,000, respectively.

Amores and his brother surrendered to authorities last Thursday, September 26.

PMaj. Bob Luis Ordiz, officer in charge of the Lumban Municipal Police Station, said that Amores had an altercation with the victim, a certain Lee Cacalda, during a basketball game before the shooting happened.

Ordiz assured that Cacalda escaped the incident unscathed.

The Philippine Baskeball Association (PBA) expressed sadness over the shooting incident that involved Amores, a player of the Northport Batang Pier.

In 2022, the National Collegiate Athletic Association slapped an indefinite suspension against Amores, who then played for the Jose Rizal University (JRU) Heavy Bombers, after he punched the players off the De La Salle - College of St. Benilde Blazers during a game.

JRU also imposed an indefinite suspension on Amores before deciding to expel him from the men's basketball team of the university.

Amores earned a second chance as a basketball player after the Zamboanga Valientes included him in their roster for the 2022 ASEAN Basketball League.

Prior to joining the 2023 PBA draft, he also played for the Muntinlupa Cagers in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.
