A total of 6.1 million devotees participated in the grand procession of the Feast of the Black Nazarene on Tuesday, January 9, according to the management of the Quiapo Church.
The carriage carrying the venerated Image of the Black Nazarene left Quirino Grandstand at Rizal Park at 4:45 AM and after nearly 15 hours, it arrived at Quiapo Church at 7:45 PM.
This makes this year's Traslacion the fastest since 2012, which was the longest procession in the history after taking 22 hours before getting to the Minor Basilica of Black Nazarene.
The last Traslacion held in 2020 lasted 16 hours.
It can be recalled that this year's grand procession marks the first in three years after it was consecutively postponed in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
