

In view of the threat posed by Super Typhoon Nando, a total of 24,788 individuals or 7,922 families have been preemptively evacuated across both Northern and Central Luzon as of 7:40 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23, according to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Region II logged the highest number of evacuees, with a total of 5,276 families, equivalent to 16,396 individuals. The majority of them are from Cagayan (4,640 families or 14,380 individuals), followed by locals from Isabela (490 families or 1,553 individuals).
Batanes and Nueva Viscaya recorded a smaller count.
Meanwhile, evacuees from the Cordillera Administrative Region amounted to 891 families or 2,652 individuals, mainly from Apayao (812 families or 2,430 individuals); Abra residents comprised 58 families or 151 individuals.
For Region I, Ilocos Norte’s evacuees reached 756 families or 2,301 individuals.
In Region III, residents from Aurora made up most of the evacuees, with 339 families or 986 individuals, while Nueva Ecija recorded 13 families or 43 individuals. The region’s total is 352 families or 1,029 evacuees.
PAGASA earlier warned the public of “life-threatening conditions” for Northern Luzon, with Super Typhoon Nando nearing the Babuyan Islands. It has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) as of 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
