Twenty families were left homeless after a fire gutted a three-story residential and commercial building on Elcano Street, near the corner of Padre Rada Street in Tondo, Manila.
According to Fire Senior Inspector Ronald Lim of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Manila, the fire started at 4:08 AM and reached the third alarm.
The fire was declared out at around 6:38 AM, with neighboring buildings, including a fruit shop on the ground floor, spared from damage.

The blaze ravaged the second and third floors, with only slight damage to the first floor of the four-door residential/commercial building.
The fire was particularly difficult to control due to the cramped streets, allowing only one fire truck to pass through.

Property damage is estimated at more than P300,000, with a firefighter and a resident reported to have suffered minor injuries in the incident.
