The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Saturday reported a total of 14 deaths resulting from the combined impact of Storm Egay and the intensified southwest monsoon, known as habagat.
According to the latest situation report, six deaths have been officially confirmed, while eight other fatalities are still undergoing validation.
Additionally, 13 individuals were reported injured, and 20 others are still missing.
The adverse weather conditions have significantly affected a vast number of people, with 608, 979 individuals, equivalent to 172,293 families, experiencing its repercussions across 13 regions, 45 provinces, 306 cities/municipalities, and 1,752 barangays.
The toll on property and infrastructure has been substantial, with an estimated P195,000 in damages to houses and a staggering P1,191,137,926 in infrastructure losses.
Moreover, the agricultural sector suffered immense losses, totaling P833,889,970 in terms of production. This has had a severe impact on 76,093 farmers and approximately 91,651.56 hectares of crops.
The damage extended to livestock, poultry, and fisheries, amounting to P23,762,020.
In response to the disaster, the government has stepped in to provide assistance, amounting to P39,696,419.93.
This support includes crucial items like family food packs, hygiene kits, shelter repair kits, and modular tents, among other essential provisions.
