According to RH Edniel Parrosa's live report during Damdaming Bayan, the Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (SAICT) nabbed the vehicles of MMDA and LTFRB for violating the rules of the proper usage of the EDSA busway.
A SAICT official, who requested anonymity, said the bus drivers showed an MMDA memo dated February 20 to Department of Transportation (DOTr) enforcers indicating that “MMDA shuttle buses designated for employee transportation are allowed to access the Edsa Bus Carousel Lane.”
However, the SAICT executive stressed that the “in-house memo” is not being recognized in the use of the Edsa busway.
The MMDA buses that were carrying its employees “on their way to their office” in their head office in Pasig City received a violation ticket from SAICT.
Aside from the two MMDA and LTFRB shuttles, several vehicles with red plates were also apprehended, including the vehicles of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Many of the apprehended vehicles on the EDSA busway were ambulances that were reportedly not carrying patients.
