Hundreds of anti-corruption rallyists marched from the EDSA Shrine to the People Power Monument in Quezon City on Saturday, September 13, calling out government officials, stating, “Hindi sila patas makipaglaban.”
RH Edwin Duque reported that protesters began arriving at the EDSA Shrine in Ortigas at 8:44 AM. An hour later, rallyists marched to the EDSA People Power Monument, denouncing government officials, both local and national, for their involvement with the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) anomalous flood control projects.
According to protesters, the Philippines’ debt reached ₱16.92 trillion in 2025. Now, they are questioning where the funds went, highlighting how calamities like constant flooding have a profoundly devastating effect on Filipinos. This is especially true with provinces like Bulacan, where widespread flooding results in significant damage to livelihood.
That’s why, on Saturday, anti-corruption protesters stood their ground at the EDSA People Power Monument, expressing collective anger to condemn the corrupt practices within the government.
"Nakita natin sa mga nagdaang linggo kung gaano ka-korap ang negosyong gobyerno nitong dalawa," a protester shouted. "Bilyon-bilyon ang kinukulimbat sa bulsa ng mamamayan. Hindi sila patas makipaglaban. Ang mga mamamayan ay nagtatrabaho, umulan man o umaraw, habang sila, nagnanakaw.”
According to the report, approximately 200 rallyists attended the demonstrations today. Duque noted that authorities are also present during the rally to ensure that no untoward incidents occur.
Duque also mentioned that most of the participants at today’s rally are representatives from various groups, pointing out that no group leaders were seen. Students from several universities in Metro Manila also participated.
Meanwhile, the groups present urged the public to attend the succeeding rallies on September 19 in Quezon City and September 21 at Luneta Park.
