President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. reported that one casualty was recorded in Camarines Norte following the devastation of Typhoon Pepito, which was previously classified as a super typhoon.
In his statement following the national prayer breakfast at Malacañang, Marcos stated that even though only one death has been reported, it is still deeply saddening.
"Unfortunately, I am sorry and saddened to report that mayroon tayong casualty na isa sa Camarines Norte," Marcos said in an ambush interview with the media on Monday.
"We know my feelings about that, that one casualty is a casualty too many, so that is unfortunate," he added.
Furthermore, relief operations remain in full swing, led by relevant government agencies, especially for those whose houses were destroyed.
In connection with this, Marcos called on Filipinos not to forget those affected by the calamity this Christmas season.
“Sana pagdating ng Pasko, tayong mga Pilipino alalahanin naman natin ang ating mga kababayan na sinasalanta. Kahit papaano sana, yung sa ating gawing pamamasko, ipamahagi na natin sa kanila, kawawa naman at sila’y naghihirap,” said Marcos.
The President also extended his gratitude to the first responders and others who are tirelessly assisting communities affected by the onslaught of Typhoon Pepito.
