In a Facebook post, the late singer's older sister Maria Testado shared photos of them together as she bids goodbye.
"Goodbye my ever dearest youngest brother, Victor Wood. We love you so much. We will never forget you," she wrote. "Your memories will remain in our hearts and our minds forever. May your soul rest in peace with the Lord in heaven."
In a report from ABS-CBN, Victor's wife Nerissa said that he died at 9 am due to COVID-19 complications at the New Era General Hospital, Quezon City.
She also said funeral arrangements will be taken cared of by Iglesia ni Kristo, of which he was a member.
Director Carlo Ortega Cuevas, who worked on Wood’s upcoming biopic “Jukebox King: The Life Story of Victor Wood,” also paid tribute to the late singer.
Victor Wood, who hailed from Camarines Sur, rose to fame in the early 1970s with ballads such as "Mr. Lonely," "I'm Sorry My Love," "In Despair," "Fraulein," "Eternally," and many others, releasing 26 albums during his music career.
His first album I'm Sorry My Love was released in 1970.
