The Municipal government of Montalban has announced that the Wawa dam would be temporarily closed to tourists following the encounter between the government forces and alleged members of the New People's Army in Sitio Ligtas, Barangay San Rafael, Rizal.

In an advisory posted on its Facebook post on Sunday, Montalban Municipality said the temporary closure will give way to the government's pursuit operations in mountain barangays including Puray, Mascap, Macabud, and San Rafael.

The Wawa dam is said to be closed to the public until further notice.

Two soldiers were wounded while one reportedly died.
