The water level of the Marikina River is close to reaching the second alarm on Thursday morning due to the non-stop rainfall caused by the Southwest Monsoon, reaching 15.7 meters as of 7:00 a.m. this morning.

In a report by Edniel Parrosa on DZRH’s Dos Por Dos, the water level in Marikina River quickly rose to first alarm at around 5:35 a.m.

With the second alarm being raised, the local government informed the residents living in low-lying and flood-prone areas to evacuate.

Once the water level reaches the second alarm, a siren will be heard, indicating an announcement by the local government unit for the residents living in critical areas to fully evacuate.

Particularly, the barangays of Tumana and Nangka will have to leave the area once the second alarm is raised.

Evacuation of residents near the river will be mandatory when the rain continues and it reaches 18 meters above the third alarm.
