Heavy rainfall caused by Typhoon Carina (international name: Gaemi) and the southwest monsoon (Habagat) led several local government units (LGUs) to declare work and class suspensions on Wednesday, July 24.
In Metro Manila, all cities implemented suspensions as directed by Malacañang. This includes all levels of public and private schools, as well as work in government offices.
Outside Metro Manila, the following LGUs have announced suspensions:
- Cainta, Rizal: All levels, public and private schools; work in government offices.
- Binangonan, Rizal: All levels, public and private schools.
- Morong, Rizal: All levels, public and private schools.
- Tanay, Rizal: All levels, public and private schools.
- Baguio City: All levels, public and private schools; work in government offices.
- Batangas province: All levels, public and private schools.
- Cavite: All levels, public and private schools.
- Laguna: All levels, public and private schools.
- Magsingal, Ilocos Sur: All levels, public and private schools.
- Capas, Tarlac: All levels, public and private schools.
- Bataan: All levels, public and private schools.
- Manaoag, Pangasinan: Preschool to senior high school, public and private schools.
- Bulakan, Bulacan: All levels, public and private schools.
- Batanes: Work is suspended in government offices until July 25.
The suspensions aim to ensure the safety of residents amidst the inclement weather conditions. Local authorities advise the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
