The Department of Education (DepEd) has announced the postponement of class openings for School Year 2024-2025 for Monday, July 29, in over 1,000 public schools.
In a Facebook post by DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara, he shared that 1,063 schools are included in the list of public schools that have been greatly affected by the typhoon.
“Due to the cleaning and rehabilitation of some public schools affected by Super Typhoon Carina, the DepEd Central Office postponed the opening of classes of 1,063 public schools this Monday, July 29, 2024,” his caption read.
Angara previously said that some schools will need to reschedule the resumption of classes considering the aftermath of Typhoon Carina.
As of 8:00 PM on July 27, the regions included in the list are as follows:
- NCR - 225 schools
- Region I - 310 schools
- Region III - 457 schools
- Region IV-A - 67 schools
- Region XII - 4 schools
The DepEd Central Office has already informed the regional directors and schools affected through their respective school division superintendents.
The department is still continuing to validate the total number of schools that will not not push through with class opening on July 29.
