Vote counting machines (VCMs) and election paraphernalia are set to be deployed on February 18 to 19 for the special polls in the 7th District of Cavite slated on February 25, Saturday.
In an interview, Commission on Elections (Comelec) chair George Garcia mentioned that the deployment of 426 VCMs will happen the next weekend, while simultaneous final testing in all 75 voting centers will be on February 19.
On January 11, the printing of 355,184 official ballots began.
The special automated polls will be held in the municipalities of Amadeo, Indang, Tanza, and Trece Martires City, as well as Trece Martires City.
The special event will elect the representative of Cavite's 7th congressional district, a position vacated by Jesus Crispin Remulla when he was appointed as Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary shortly after the May 2022 elections.
The four candidates are the National Unity Party's Crispin Diego Remulla and independents Jose Angelito Aguinaldo, Melencio De Sagun Jr., and Michael Angelo Santos.
While the younger Remulla was chosen last year to serve on the 7th District Board, Sagun served as the town of Trece Martires' former mayor.
