House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III vowed to spare no one from accountability, emphasizing that he would not defend the guilty.
Minutes after formally taking his oath of office on Wednesday, September 17, Dy delivered his first speech as House Speaker before the members of the House of Representatives.
"Under my leadership, this house will change. I will not defend the guilty and I will not shield the corrupt. Gaya ng paninindigan ng ating Pangulo, 'No rank, no ally, no office will be spared from accountability," he said.
"We must strengthen the oversight committee and fully cooperate with the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI). Our duty is not to protect each other. Our duty is to protect the Filipino people," he added.
For the newly elected House Speaker, what matters most is the welfare of the Filipinos, stressing that he would not let any lawmaker use the name of Congress for their personal interests.
As the new House Speaker, Dy assured the public that he would listen to what the Filipino people has to say, adding, “Ito lang ang paraan para lumabas ang pawang katotohanan.
