Former Presidential Spokesperson Atty. Harry Roque slammed the Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla, describing him as a purveyor of fake news.
In a Facebook statement on Wednesday, June 18, Roque detailed the “alleged asylum denial”, echoing Remulla’s previous statement that his request for asylum had been rejected in the Netherlands.
“I am not surprised that the Marcos Jr. administration, through the Department of Justice, has become the purveyor of fake news,” his statement read.
“Strike two na ang DOJ Secretary. Una, sinabi niya mayroon daw akong multiple passports. Ngayon, denied asylum. Ano ito? Nakalap ang impormasyon sa usapang Maritess,” it added.
According to Roque, his trip to Germany was a pre-planned activity, explaining that he traveled there along with Maharlika upon the invitation of the Filipino community in the said country.
Meanwhile, Roque confirmed he is back at the Hague in the Netherlands.
“Marcos Jr. does not need billions of pesos of confidential and intelligence funds to track my location. Just check my Facebook account. It is all there,” he concluded.
On Wednesday afternoon, Remulla told reporters that to his knowledge, Roque’s asylum request in the Netherlands was rejected. Thus, the reason behind his trip to Germany.
"Ang alam ko, hindi siya nabigyan ng asylum ng Netherlands, kaya nasa Germany na—na siyang magbibigay nito," Remulla stated.
Although an extradition request may soon be filed, Remulla noted that it might not be necessary if Roque’s passport is canceled.
"'Pag naging undocumented alien 'yan, puwede nang kunin ng Interpol," he said.
