A tropical storm located east of Eastern Visayas has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and has been named "Ofel" by PAGASA.
In a report released at 3 a.m. by the state weather bureau, the center of Tropical Storm Ofel (international name: Usagi) was estimated to be 1,125 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas. The storm has maximum sustained winds of 75 kph, gusts of up to 90 kph, and is moving west-northwestward at 25 kph.
As of the same report, the center of Severe Tropical Storm Nika (international name: Toraji) was located approximately 150 kilometers west-northwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte. Nika has maximum sustained winds of 95 kph, gusts of up to 115 kph, and is moving west-northwestward at 20 kph.
Meanwhile, another tropical cyclone outside PAR, Tropical Storm Man-Yi, is currently located 2,870 kilometers east of Southeastern Luzon. It has maximum sustained winds of 85 kph near the center, gusts of up to 105 kph, and is moving westward at 10 kph.
Forecast Weather Conditions
Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan, and Batanes will experience weather effects due to Severe Tropical Storm Nika.
Bataan and Zambales can expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms caused by the trough of Severe Tropical Storm Nika.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.
