Some lawmakers are contemplating filing a third impeachment complaint against Vice President (VP) Sara Duterte, House Secretary General Reginald Velasco said.
Velasco said that there is a possibility that a third complaint will be filed not later than next week against the VP. This came after he was approached by a few congressmen, expressing their intent to file another impeachment rap.
His office is awaiting the filing, if some lawmakers ever decide on filing it next week. Velasco said that they were just informed by the officials, and respect their decision to do so.
However, the House Secretary General refused to reveal who approached him about the matter, as they agreed to keep it private until the lawmakers’ day of filing.
The Office of the House Secretary General is aiming to transmit all impeachment complaints filed against the VP to the Office of House Speaker Martin Romualdez by next week.
Since offices in Congress will be closed from Friday to Sunday, a new impeachment complaint can only be filed on Tuesday next week.
The first impeachment complaint against Duterte was filed on Monday; while progressive groups filed the second complaint on Wednesday.
The Makabayan bloc also began its signature drive on Thursday, targeting a total of 106 signatures from lawmakers.
