Hailing from the Philippines, Sofronio Vasquez continues to put up a strong fight in the American edition of “The Voice” and has made the cut for the finale.
Vasquez clinched the top 5th spot with Elvis Presley’s “If I Can Dream,” a win he celebrated on social media.
“WE MADE IT TO THE FINALE,” he wrote on a Facebook post. “Thank you so much to my Filipinos everywhere and in America who gave so much love and support. And Of course, I wanna say Maraming Salamat to my hometown Utica, Upstate New York, Mohawk Valley and Everyoooneeeeeeeeeee! Grabe kayo.”
“One last voting nextweek for Finale. Please continue to pray for me,” he added.
Speaking with People Magazine, Vasquez revealed that during his performance, he had been fighting back tears so he wouldn’t look “too emotional.”
One other contestant from team Bublé also secured a spot among the finalists with her performance of “The Joke” by Brandy Carlile.
The three other finalists are Danny Joseph from team Reba McEntire, Jeremy Beloate from team Snoop Dogg, and Sydney Sterlace from team Gwen Stefani.
The finale is set for December 9 to 10.
