Authorities raided at least five houses belonging to Negros Oriental Representative Arnolfo 'Arnie' Teves Jr. on Friday, March 10, Interior Secretary Behur Abalos confirmed.
This comes a day after the suspects pointed Teves as the mastermind in the brutal murder of former Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo.
In a radio interview, Abalos said the search warrant was handed by the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG). It covered at least five houses of Rep. Teves who is currently in the United States for medical treatment.
On Thursday, one of the arrested suspects revealed that it was Teves who gave them the orders to kill the former governor.
According to the suspect, they were initially hired as VIP security personnel and had no idea they would kill the former Negros governor.
Prior to this, the PNP-CIDG filed multiple murder complaints with the Department of Justice (DOJ) against Cong. Teves in connection with a series of murders that took place in 2019 in various parts of Negros Oriental.
Degamo and 8 other civilians were killed during the shooting incident in Pamplona last March 4.
PCol. Redrico Maranan, the spokesperson of the PNP, said on Tuesday that politics is the most possible motive behind the killing of Degamo.
Teves and his brother Pryde Henry are also being linked to Degamo's killing.
