Negros Oriental 3rd District Rep. Arnolfo "Arnie" Teves Jr. is being tagged as the mastermind behind the brutal killing of former Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo.
In an ambush interview with the media at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), one of the arrested suspects revealed that it was Teves who gave them the orders to kill the former governor.
According to the suspect, they were initially hired as VIP security personnel and had no idea they would kill the Degamo.
"Ang sabi sindikato, drug lord daw ang target. Hindi sinabi [na si Degamo]. Na-blind kami," he said.
The suspect assured that they will cooperate in the investigation.
He claimed that they are in a difficult situation as their lives are in danger.
Meanwhile, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin 'Boying' Remulla disclosed that all possible suspects including Teves will be put under investigation.
"We are investigating everybody who may have something to do with what has been happening in Negros Oriental. We are not exempting anybody," he told reporters in a separate media interview on Thursday.
Teves and his brother Pryde Henry are linked to Degamo's killing.
The Negros Congressman first refuted these accusations, arguing that if the former governor had wanted to be killed, he should have given the order before the May 2022 elections.
