A taxi crashed into plant boxes on the southbound lane of the Buendia Flyover Tuesday morning, August 19, causing debris to hit a delivery van on the opposite lane.
According to a report by DZRH’s Jecelle Ricafort in Dos Por Dos, the 69-year-old taxi driver, who declined to be identified, admitted he failed to notice a protruding plant box before the collision. The impact sent two boxes flying into the northbound lane, directly in the path of an oncoming van.
The van’s driver, 48-year-old Joni Oliver, said he tried to swerve to avoid the debris but still hit the plant box which caused him to nearly fall off the flyover.
Both vehicles sustained heavy damage, the taxi’s front was wrecked while the van’s bumper and headlights were smashed. The Pasay Traffic Management Office towed the two vehicles to the Pasay Complex.
No injuries were reported, including the taxi’s lone passenger who was en route to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
The taxi driver, however, complained of head pain following the collision
