Smart Communications Inc. on Monday vowed to comply with the Makati City government's tax ordinances along with relevant national laws on local taxation.
The pledge comes after the Makati City government ordered the closure of SMART Inc.'s main office at Ayala Avenue for allegedly operating without a business permit since 2019 as well as non-payment of its Php 3.2 billion taxes.
The officials of Makati LGU padlocked and posted a shutdown notice on Monday morning.
"Smart remains committed to complying with Makati City's local tax ordinances, and with applicable national laws, in respect of local taxation," it said in a statement.
