An explosion in Tanza, Cavite revealed a shabu laboratory in a residential area on Wednesday.
The Tanza Bureau of Fire Protection, under Senior Fire Inspector Armand Lee Andres, responded to a report of a loud explosion akin to a bomb detonation which occurred at about 6 AM.
Various equipment, paraphernalia, and chemicals used in the concoction of shabu were discovered by the BFP upon arrival at the kitchen-type laboratory housed along Leon Fojas Street in Barangay Sahud-Ulan.
According to a report on Magandang Umaga Pilipinas, police were unable to catch the suspects, including a Filipino, one Chinese, and two Indonesian nationals. In a CCTV clip from the barangay, it can be seen that the two tenants, followed by a pair of women and two men, had made their escape.
The Barangay Captain, Clarito “Recto” Fojas, said that the tenants began renting the house In November of last year, as its owner is abroad. Transactions were made via social media, with the help of the owner’s relatives, read the news report.
The drug lab went unnoticed prior to the explosion, although neighbors noted that couriers would frequent the house for deliveries.
Police are currently conducting an investigation to identify the suspects.
