Senate Majority Leader Francis "Tol" Tolentino issued and presented the Proposed Senate Resolution No. 1102 which aims to give recognition to Filipino gymnast Carlos "Caloy" Yulo for a very historic two-time gold win in the men's floor exercise and vault event at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
"Mr. Yulo's bagging two Olympic Gold Medals is a historic first for Philippine Gymnastics and the second for our country after Hidilyn Diaz's gold medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics for weightlifting," the resolution stated.
The Senate believes that Yulo is not just a symbol of inspiration for the Filipino youth but is also a proof that height should not be a hindrance to reach one's dream.
Yulo's determination will spark motivation for every Filipino people to persevere and succeed in any field they desire to be in.
Senator Robin Padilla mentioned that Yulo proved that being tall or having foreign blood is not a requirement to bring honor and pride to the country.
Yulo, now an Olympic gold medalist, clinched his first gold on August 3 during the men's artistic gymnastics floor exercise event where he scored 15.00 points.
Following his victory, he became an official two-time Olympic champion the next day after bagging gold in the men's artistic gymnastics floor exercise event, gaining a score of 15.116 points.
