The Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (PCAB) said it was unaware of the case filed by St. Timothy Construction Company against the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) before the Court of Tax Appeals (CTA), which involves allegations of “material misrepresentation.”
PCAB Executive Director Atty. Herbert Matienzo made the remark during a Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on Monday, September 1.
"With regard to the case filed with the CTA, the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board is unaware of the filing of the case of St. Timothy against the BIR," Matienzo told the panel.
"But then again we will look into the case, check the addresses given. And in case there is a misrepresentation then the PCAB has [been] following the rules on license contracting," he added.
The case reportedly centers on accusations that St. Timothy submitted false or misleading information, which, if proven, could affect both their tax obligations and contractor license status.
Matienzo emphasized that PCAB would investigate the matter further and take appropriate action if necessary. Under PCAB rules, any contractor found guilty of misrepresentation may face sanctions, including license suspension or revocation.
The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee convened the hearing to look into alleged irregularities involving licensed contractors and their compliance with government regulations, including those set by the BIR and PCAB.
