Newly-appointed Department of Agriculture (DA) Sec. Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. will reveal his marching orders to the agency on Monday, November 6.
"Sa Lunes ay magkakaroon ng pulong-balitaan pagkatapos ng flag ceremony sa DA. Doon ihahayag ng ating bagong kalihim yung kanyang marching orders," said DA Asec. Arnel De Mesa during DZRH's Special on Saturday on Saturday, November 4.
De Mesa divulged that Laurel already met with DA Usec. Domingo Panganiban on Friday, November 3, following the appointment of the former.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced the appointment of Laurel on Friday, and said that the new DA chief has alreafy taken his oath of office.
Laurel served as a president of fishing company before he joined the government.
"I’ve known him since we were boys. So, malakas ang loob ko na ma-i-appoint siya kasi kilala ko pagkatao niya," President Marcos said in a press briefing.
"Alam kong napakasipag nito, unang-una. Pangalawa ay nauunawaan niya nang mabuti ang sistema ng agrikultura dito sa Pilipinas," he added.
Prior to the appointment of Laurel, President Marcos served as the head of the DA since the start of his Administration in June 2022.
