The Supreme Court on Monday warned the public against recent false and misleading statements circulating online that are being attributed to Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo.

This was after several social media posts claimed that Gesmundo made a statement supporting the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant against Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa.

The posts further alleged that Gesmundo had issued an order to block the execution of the alleged ICC warrant.

The Supreme Court has firmly denied these claims, labeling the posts as false.

The false information began circulating days after Ombudsman Jesus Crispin "Boying" Remulla on DZRH’s Executive Session stated that the ICC had issued an arrest warrant against Dela Rosa for his alleged involvement in the war on drugs under former President Rodrigo Duterte.

Currently, Duterte is detained in The Hague, the Netherlands, on charges of crimes against humanity related to the extrajudicial killings during his administration.

Meanwhile, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said on Saturday that the government has not received any red notice from the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) against the senator, while the Department of Justice (DOJ) said it is working to verify the information.
