The team of House Speaker Martin Romualdez on Monday confirmed that William Vincent 'Vinny' Marcos has recently started working as an “intern” in their office.
"Mr. William Vincent 'Vinny' A. Marcos has been working as an intern at the office of the Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez since Monday last week," Romualdez’s team said in a press statement.
Vinny, 25 years old, is the youngest son of President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr.
The House Speaker’s team said Vinny would "undergo training on the legislative processes", and be "mentored on the daily grind" at Congress.
The training and mentoring would include the “role and interaction of various committees and departments on the legislative process, as well as strategies to help expedite the passage of vital bills and other measures for the benefit of the Filipino people,” it said.
According to the House Speaker's office, Romualdez would supervise and oversee Vinny's training, just as he did to Ilocos Norte 1st District Rep. and current senior deputy majority leader Alexander 'Sandro' Marcos.
The statement was released after House Minority Leader Marcelino Libanan (4Ps Party-list) posted a photo during a meeting of the minority bloc held last week.
In the photos, the younger Marcos was seated behind a nameplate identifying him as a special assistant to the speaker.
