The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has recorded a total of 881,772 voter registrants across the country during the first four days of the ongoing 10-day voter registration period for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, COMELEC Chairman George Garcia described the turnout as the "most successful voter registration in history" within such a short period.

The voter registration began on August 1 and will run until August 10, 2025.

According to COMELEC data, 143,999 individuals registered on the first day alone.

Central Luzon led all regions with the highest number of registrants at 208,398, followed by Calabarzon with 102,235, and the National Capital Region with 64,131.

Earlier, Garcia confirmed that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is set to sign the bill into law extending the terms of barangay and sangguniang kabataan officials, and postponing the BSKE on August 12.

Once signed into law, the measure will also move the Barangay and SK Elections from the originally scheduled December 1, 2025, to the first Monday of November 2026.

Moreover, according to Garcia, the poll body has not observed any decline in the number of voter registrants, even after the announcement of plans to sign a bill extending the terms of Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials.

Despite the potential delays, the Commission continues to urge eligible Filipinos, especially the youth, to take advantage of the remaining days and ensure their participation in the country’s democratic process.
