Rice retailers can appeal omission from cash aid beneficiaries - DSWD
by Kristan Carag13 September 2023

Rice retailers can appeal their exclusion from the list of beneficiaries of the cash assistance for those affected by the price ceiling on well-milled rice, and regular-milled rice.

Department of Social Welfare and Development Sec. Rex Gatchalian urged retailers to visit the social media accounts of the agency, as well as the Department of Trade and Industry for the appeal process.

"As early as Friday, nag-post na sa social media accounts ng DSWD and ng DTI ng joint infographic on sino, saan at kung paano mag-apela," Gatchalian said on Tuesday, September 12, during a Palace press briefing.

"Let’s say feeling mo na dapat kasama ka pero nakaligtaan ka, puwede kang mag-apply online, nandoon na iyong mga detalye," the DSWD chief added.

Gatchalian said that DTI will also set up a grievance desk in payout centers in order to accommodate appeals by rice retailers.

"So kapag pumunta doon iyong isang tao at sinasabi niya, ‘Ako ay rice retailer, bakit wala ako dito,’ kaagad naming kina-capture iyong data, ng DTI, ibi-verify then ipapasa ulit sa DSWD," Gatchalian explained.

Small and micro rice retailers can each receive Php 15,000 cash assistance under the Sustainable Livelihood Program of the DSWD.

Gatchalian said that DTI already submitted an initial list of beneficiaries that include 5,942 rice retailers inside public, and private markets with a business permit or a SEC registration.

The DSWD chief expects that the list will become shorter after it undergoes a vetting process.
