Senator Ramon ‘Bong’ Revilla on Saturday, Oct. 15, said the arrest of the eldest son of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin ‘Boying’ Remulla was not his fault.
This was Revilla’s take amid the mounting calls for Remulla to step down from his post to ensure an independent investigation of the case.
“Kilala ko si Secretary Boying Remulla bilang disenteng tao na may isang salita. Kaya't masakit man bilang isang ama na napariwara ang anak, naniniwala ako sa kanya na hindi siya makikialam,“ he said in a statement.
The Senator said he believes that Remulla would be true to his words that he would uphold his oath as the Justice Chief and abide by the law.
“Let us not judge him on the fault of others but on his competence and performance. Hindi kasalanan ng ama ang kasalanan ng anak,“ Revilla underscored.
On Oct. 11, Remulla’s eldest son Juanito Jose Diaz Remulla III was arrested during drug operations in Las Piñas City for possession of 937 grams of high-grade marijuana “kush” worth Php 1.31 million.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Friday said he is facing charges of importation of dangerous drugs and violation of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
Earlier, Marcos rejected the calls for Remulla to resign. He said that the public could only call for the resignation of an official “if he's not doing his job or that they have misbehaved in that job.“
