With the arrest of a certain 'Marvin Miranda,' Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin 'Boying' Remulla is now certain that suspended Negros Oriental Representative Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves Jr. is the main mastermind in the brutal assassination of Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Remulla referred to Teves as the "executive producer" while Miranda, one of the alleged masterminds nabbed by authorities last week, as the "director" or "casting director" in the daylight shooting of Degamo earlier in March.
"Sabi ko nga kung sa sine, Congressman Teves is executive producer and the producer and he (Miranda) is the director and casting director," the justice secretary said.
Remulla noted that Miranda was the one responsible for contracting people and gathering firearms.
"Siya yung kausap lagi na kumuha ng tao, kumuha ng armas, pati yung ano, pati yung mag re-recruit ng tao, pati yung number ng tao na huling dumating nung plinaplano nila. Yung pagplano pa lang nung pag galaw kasama na yun," he said.
An alleged lawyer of Miranda also attempted to speak with Remulla but Miranda said he did not know him.
Last Friday, Remulla announced that the National Bureau of Investigation arrested one of the main players in the killing. The DOJ chief said that with this latest arrest, the case is now "99% solved."
Miranda was caught fleeing Negros Oriental and is now under the custody of the NBI.
Degamo and eight others were killed while several others were injured after an attack at the governor's home in Negros Oriental on March 4 while he was distributing aid to his constituents.
Teves is being linked to the crime after suspects in the killing pointed to a certain “Cong. Teves” as the one who ordered the hit.
His lawyer earlier said the representative will not be returning home to the country unless the government complies with "certain requests" about his security.
