Parents of children who allegedly died after receiving the Dengvaxia vaccine gathered in front of the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Monday to call for a review of their cases.
This protest comes after the DOJ previously dismissed 98 cases involving the deaths of children reportedly linked to the controversial vaccine.
In a report Boy Gonzales, some of the grieving parents knelt and tearfully pleaded outside the DOJ, urging the department to revisit the cases of their children. Their primary demand is for justice for the loss of their loved ones and a thorough examination of the cases by Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla before finalizing any decisions.
One of the parents, visibly emotional, recounted the story of his 10-year-old daughter who allegedly passed away due to Dengvaxia.
In a heartfelt appeal, Ramil Pestilos shared his experience, calling on Secretary Remulla to exercise his authority as the head of the DOJ and to consider the motion they filed to reopen the cases.
The parents expressed their disappointment over the dismissal of 98 cases, especially since 43 earlier cases were filed in court.
Furthermore, they questioned the inconsistency in the treatment of the cases and demanded a clearer explanation from the DOJ.
For many of these families, the fight for justice has spanned over seven years as they vowed not to give up until accountability is achieved for what they claim to be the wrongful deaths of their children.
