The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Tuesday filed an alarm and scandal case against the former policeman who was seen assaulting and threatening a cyclist with a gun in Quezon City over the weekend.
In a report from RH Val Gonzales, QCPD Chief Police Brig Gen Nicolas Torre III said they have filed the complaint against the suspect, identified as Wilfredo Gonzales following the evidence they sought from the viral video of the incident.
He also clarified that the amicable settlement between Gonzales and the victim is not covered by the complaint.
Based on the video that went viral on social media, the ex-cop slapped and brandished a gun at a cyclist who had bumped into his vehicle.
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte on Monday urged the cyclist to come forward to file the necessary cases against Gonzales.
"We are appealing to the complainant to come forward so that Willy Gonzalez, whom I consider a menace to society, is held accountable," Belmonte said in a press release.
She assured that the QC local government will provide legal assistance and protect the cyclist and his family to guarantee that justice is served.
The Land Transportation Office (LTO), meanwhile, ordered preventive suspension of the driver's license of the suspect./
