The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Traffic Sector 3 arrested the truck driver early Friday morning who was involved in a fatal multi-vehicle collision at the Katipunan Avenue-Aurora Boulevard flyover the previous night.

In a report by RH Val Gonzales, the driver was terrified after seeing many people lying motionless on the road. Due to fear, he quickly fled the scene and went back to his residence on CP Garcia Avenue, Quezon City.

The driver said that the truck he was operating lost its brakes while going down the flyover. He allegedly tried to avoid a line of motorcycles, but while making a turn, he hit an L300 van. The group of motorcycles on the van's side were also caught in the crash.

Following his arrest, the driver expressed his apologies to the victims of the accident.

“Humihingi po ako ng dispensa sa lahat ng nadisgrasya ko po kasi hindi ko naman po kagustuhan ‘yung nangyari,” the driver said.
