

2019 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference champion Janisa Johnson passed away last May 25 at the age of 32 years old.
The official Instagram page of the American volleyball player confirmed her passing.
Prior to her passing, Johnson confirmed that she underwent 12 sessions of chemotherapy after being diagnosed with colon cancer.
Johnson made her debut in the PVL with the BaliPure - National University Water Defenders in the 2018 Reinforced Conference.
She later joined the PetroGazz Angels, and earned the Finals Most Valuable Player plum in the first championship run of the squad in the PVL.
Petro Gazz offered their condolences to the family of Johnson.
"With heavy hearts, we extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family of Janisa Johnson, our Finals MVP in the 2019 Reinforced Conference, who passed away after a courageous fight against cancer," Petro Gazz said in a Facebook post.
"Soar high with the real angels in heaven. Rest in peace, Janisa," the squad added.
PVL also mourns the passing of Johnson.
"Her dynamic leadership on the court left a lasting impression on her young teammates, carrying the learnings they got up to this day," PVL said.
