Forty-five percent of Filipinos are against the proposed amendment to the 1987 Philippine Constitution or charter change, the latest survey by Pulse Asia has shown.
The poll's result released on Tuesday also showed that 45 percent of Pinoys are not in favor of the proposed amendments such as allowing foreign individuals and companies to practice their profession in the country.
They also expressed disapproval of changing the government system from unitary to federal, term extensions for national and local officials and lifting the prohibition of foreign ownership, among others.
On the other hand, 30 percent of Filipinos do not support the formation of a consitutional convention or con-con to amend the 1987 Constitution.
At least 28 percent could not say if they agree or disagree with the proposed con-con.
Meanwhile, about 41 percent of Pinoys are in favor of amending the constitution this year.
The majority of those who showed support are from Visayas at 55 percent, followed by Luzon at 41 percent, Mindanao at 37 percent, and National Capital Region (NCR) at 41 percent.
According to Pulse Asia, the public support for cha-cha has significantly increased by 10 percent at the national level and rose by 28 percent in Visayas.
The poll was conducted from March 15 to 19, 2023. About 1,200 adults aged 18 and above from Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, were interviewed in-person.
