President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s approval and trust ratings have taken a nosedive, whereas Vice President Sara Duterte’s numbers have improved for the month of March, based on a recent survey.
Based on a study conducted by Pulse Asia Research Incorporated, Marcos’ approval rating suffered a 17-point decline, from 42 percent in February to only 25 percent in March.
This drop was accompanied by a rise in the President’s disapproval rating, which climbed to 53 percent, equivalent to a 21 percent increase.
His trust rating has also dipped from 42 percent to a meagre 25 percent last month. Meanwhile, 54 percent—a clear majority of Filipinos—expressed distrust in Marcos, a sharp increase from 32 percent in February.
Conversely, out of the four highest-ranking officials in the country, the Vice President received the highest approval and trust ratings.
Duterte enjoys majority approval, with 59 percent of respondents expressing support, alongside a trust rating of 61 percent.
The surge in favor comes in stark contrast to her ongoing impeachment, which was signed by more than 200 lawmakers.
Moreover, Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero’s approval rating fell by eight percent (now at 39 percent), with a corresponding rise in his disapproval score (now 18 percent), noted Pulse Asia.
Escudero’s trust rating also slumped from 47 percent in February to 38 percent in March; his latest distrust rating stands at 20 percent compared to 14 percent previously.
House Speaker Martin Romualdez’s approval rating remained at 14 percent, although his disapproval rating grew significantly, from 14 percent in February to 54 percent in March.
Survey results also indicated a widespread distrust for the speaker, at 57 percent.
