The majority of Filipino registered voters disagree with the filing of an impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte by the House of Representatives in the Senate, reported Pulse Asia's Pulso ng Bayan survey.

In a nationwide poll conducted from May 6 to 9, 2025, 50% of respondents disagreed with the move to impeach Duterte, while 28% expressed agreement.

Meanwhile, 21% were undecided or could not say whether they agreed or disagreed, and 1% admitted they lacked sufficient knowledge to form an opinion.

The survey involved 1,200 registered voters and had a margin of error of ±2.8 percentage points.

The impeachment complaint was filed earlier this year by members of the House of Representatives, alleging that Duterte committed an abuse of power by misusing confidential funds and neglecting her duties in her roles as Vice President and Secretary of Education.

The Senate, which will serve as the impeachment court, is expected to begin preliminary hearings in June.

Legal analysts emphasized that a conviction requires a two-thirds vote in the Senate, making public opinion a key influence on the outcome of the case.

As the political tension continues to rise, Duterte has called the impeachment move "a politically motivated attack" and insists she has not committed any impeachable offense.
