Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio remained the top choice for president in the upcoming national polls while Senate President Vicente 'Tito' Sotto III emerged as the leading vice presidential candidate in a Pulse Asia survey released on Wednesday.
According to the poll, conducted from September 6 to 11, Duterte-Caprio ranked first with 20 percent of Filipino adults showed support for her possible candidacy.
Previously, the presidential daughter announced that she will no longer vie for the presidency.
The mayor's rating remains anchored on Mindanao where she garnered 47 percent, followed Visayas at 23 percent, and Metro Manila at 12 percent. She got her lowest rating in Balanced Luzon at 8 percent.
Sara was followed by former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos with 15 percent, Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso with 13 percent, and Senator Manny Pacquiao with 12 percent.
Also included are Senator Grace Poe who got 9 percent, Vice President Leni Robredo with 8 percent, and Senator Panfilo Lacson with 6 percent.
The September Pulse Asia poll was conducted before Pacquiao and Moreno declared their intention to run for president last September 19 and September 21, respectively.
For the vice presidential bets, Sotto topped the survey with 25 percent of Filipino adults expressing their support for his candidacy,
Trailing behind him is President Duterte with 14 percent, followed by Moreno and Marcos with 12 percent each, and Pacquiao and Senator Christopher “Bong” Go with 7 percent each.
The Commission on Election (Comelec) earlier announced the extension of voter registration from October 9 to 31.
